Any Thanksgiving meal is incomplete without one popular side dish. Yes, green beans. This is something everyone expects at a Thanksgiving dinner as a side dish. And if you are a vegetarian, this is one of the must haves.

Cashew nuts and almonds make up for extra crunchiness since I love my food to be crunchy. Squeezed lemon juice gives it a tangy flavor.

So, doesn’t matter what other items you have in mind to prepare for your upcoming Thanksgiving dinner, these green beans are going to find a place on your dinner table!

This Green Beans with Caramelized Onions, almonds and cashews is perfect side dish that goes well along any kind of menu. It also most consumed around one of the most popular and all time favorite holidays – Thanksgiving.

Ingredients

  • 1 lbs Green Beans

  • 1 Onion

  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil

  • 2 tbsp Cashews

  • 2 tbsp Almonds

  • 1/2 tsp Salt

  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper

  • 1/2 tbsp Lemon Juice

Directions

  • Parboil green beans in boiling water for about 5 minutes. Drain out the water and transfer to cold water to stop further cooking process. Drain the beans and dry thoroughly with paper towel.
  • Heat the olive oil in frying pan. Saute onions until caramelized. Add green beans and cook for about 5 – 7 minutes. Sprinkle salt and black pepper. Evenly mix with wooden spatula.
  • Add sliced almonds and cashews. Cook for another 1 – 2 minutes.
  • Transfer to serving plate. Sprinkle lemon juice on cooked beans. Serve as side dish with your main meal.
